Down Time

Ahh it feels good to have a few days off from both jobs.. I’ve even started to sink my teeth into “Grand Theft Auto: San Andres.” It’s great so far! I wish I had more time to play games. It’s so relaxing and still a lot of fun, even at 27. Sad? Maybe. But it’s all good.

Regardless, I’m so grateful for a couple days off. I’ve currently got antibotics for the sore throat I can’t kick (that’s been plaguing me for two weeks!) So some R&R is good for that too.

Crappy Day

// November 22nd, 2004 // Comments Off // Personal Crap

Ok, today really sucked ass. I’m still sick, can’t get rid of this head congestion and sore throat. So I call to make a doctor’s appointment. Well, she’s out all this week for the holiday. Their message referred me to the local urgent care.. no appointments and I have to work again tomorrow night.

Then, on the way to driving to the mailbox on the way to work, I got pulled over for speeding. My new radar detector did go off, but I’ve had so many false alarms, I didn’t think too much about it. Luckily, he let me off with just a warning.

Then I got chewed out a work unjustly. That really pissed me off.

Then to finish off the day, I was supposed to get off at 10, but it was 10:45 til we got out of there. *sigh* Hope tomorrow’s better.

Clemson, South Carolina Won't Accept Bowl Bids

Good! That really pisses me off. It seems there is a trend lately with players getting into a confutation with their opponents as well as the fans (i.e. Pistons v. Knicks). It’s just despicable and I don’t think it should be tolerated under any circumstance. Maybe this will send a valuable message to the players and coaches alike.

I Got His Autograph!

So last night I was up at Southpoint having my weekly “Mall dinner” with Ryan and decided that after Ryan went back to work at Apple I would continue to shop. I went into Pottery Barn Kids to look around and get a gift card and I saw Craig Sheffer!!! He looked amazingly cute. I couldn’t believe it. He was just walking around the store checking out stuff. I went back over to the Apple Store to tell Ryan I saw “Patrick Swayze” in Pottery Barn. Sheffer looks VERY similar to a young Swayze.

Anyhow, I left and came home and later Ryan called to tell me he was taking Craig Sheffer’s Apple Purchases out to his car and he was talking to him about his role on “One Tree Hill” (and also the older brother opposite to Brad Pitt in “A River Runs Through It”. I asked him to get an autograph for me so he did. :) Ryan got him to sign the back of an Apple business card.

*Click on his name to check out all the movies he’s been cast in. He lives in Wilmington, NC where “One Tree Hill” is currently being filmed.

'Tis the Season!

Well, it’s not even Thanksgiving and the Malls are absolutely insane. Seems folks aren’t in the holiday spirit yet, especially as I drove through the parking lot and saw several people getting ticked about parking spaces (which is slightly understandable but some people take it a bit far) and also the crowded stores were starting to irritate people and tempers were flaring! Good thing I am about half away through my Christmas shopping for everyone!! I want to be out of the stores before Dec. 1 hits.

As my boss would say… “…just leeeen back” people and don’t get so tense about a parking spot.

Distributive Computing

// November 19th, 2004 // Comments Off // Computers

So I was working here today when I saw the screen saver on my Dell test laptop come on. I had forgot that I have United Devices distributive computing app running on there. More info on that here: Grid.org. Basically they do some big number crunching for projects like the humna genome project and cancer research.

So anyway, last time I looked, a client didn’t exist for OS X. Looks like it still doesn’t, though I did find this.

So anyway, I’m running SETI at Home for now to give the ol’ G5 here at work a bit of a workout. I’ll probably install it at home. One thing for sure, these dual processors really rock! It is absolutely blazing through its first file. Just 33 minutes in, it’s gone through 14% of a big file.

I still wish it was doing cancer research instead of search for intelligent life!
