Congrats to Bret & Tina!

// April 20th, 2008 // No Comments » // General Posts

The New Mr. & Mrs. Kruse Congratulations to the newly married Mr. & Mrs. Bret Kruse! Their wedding was great and you’d have thought Bret had just heard that Snoopy’s had closed its doors to business with all the blubbering going on.

We have a few more photos on our Flickr account of the festivities. We had a blast at all the weekend’s festivities! Hope you all have a great, restful and gluttonous honeymoon in Antigua!

Two Brothers Meditating Upon Questions of Pac-Man

Alright anyone but gamers, geeks and the like need not read any further, nor follow this link.

Basically via instant messenger, two guys contemplate just how Pac-Man’s metabolism works and what the subsequent dumps are like. Funny stuff.

Weekend Wedding

// April 19th, 2008 // No Comments » // Personal Crap

So has Ryan mentioned, we spent the better part of Friday preparing for this evening’s wedding–picking up the tux, getting last minute makeup items, picking up a card and other miscellenous things. Last night’s dinner was wonderful. Family-style Italian food. I was good. I had a little Pork Loin, a few fork fulls of Caesar Salad, Rigatoni D and Bruschetta.

The Bridesmaid gifts from Tina were so nice. We each recieved a small Vera Bradley clutch bag and inside was Sephora Makeup brushes. They were very nice.

The the wedding is at 5pm and I have a hair appointment at 1pm. Photos will be at 3:30p and then again after the ceremony. It will be an action packed day for sure.

So glad I had today off.

Amanda and I have packed a full day in, and it’s not quite over. Ran some errands first thing this morning.. got home rode for 40 minutes down to the Rollingview Marina.

Then, I cleaned up and we went out for lunch and then rode out to Cary to pick my tux up for Bret’s wedding tomorrow.

We ended up over at the hotel where Bret’s guests are staying, hung out for awhile and had the rehearsal for their wedding tomorrow. Their wedding planner didn’t show. Amanda even chimed in on given the Hilton hotel’s staff and earful.

Then we had a wonderful dinner at Maggiano’s.. very good Italian food. Bret’s gift to the groomsmen was a Fossil watch and I absolutely love mine. It’s a silver with a Carolina blue face plate and emblem, but it’s not overwhelming and acceptable to wear to work, etc. I love it.

While at the mall, we stopped into the Sears there and picked up an edger. How domesticated am I becoming that I now get excited about lawn power tools? Oh yeah, and hanging out with Bret’s brother’s little girl is convincing me it’s getting close to time that maybe we’re ready for kids. More on that later…

Rock Band Tracks I'd Like to See

// April 17th, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Gaming, Kelly Clarkson, Music

Rock Band I haven’t made a post about Rock Band in awhile… haven’t really played Rock Band or the 360 in general in awhile. Life has been getting in the way.

Anyway, I have been watching my game-related RSS feeds, watching the weekly downloadable content for Rock Band (and the less frequent downloads for Guitar Hero III). Kudos to Rock Band developer, Harmonix for keeping their promise of new content pretty much weekly. Everyone’s going to have opinions on the quality of the tracks, etc. I for one, think they’ve pretty much sucked for weeks – maybe months.

Obviously it takes more than Harmonix picking a song and putting into the game. There’s negotiations with the artists, labels, etc. Assuming that’s getting easier and easier as the rhythm rock gaming genre makes more and more for the gaming and music industries, it should be easier to get new tracks from artists big and small.

With that being said, here’s a few suggestions of songs I would love to have in Rock Band:

Hellaious Week Near Its End

// April 16th, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Personal Crap, Work

So it’s been a full week’s stress and headaches rolled into only three days. Luckily, it’s worked out where my friends, Bret and Tina are getting married Saturday. I had the forethought to take Friday off for the rehearsal, pick up my tux, etc. and am really thanking my lucky stars. Amanda’s been slow at work and it’s looking like she’ll be off now on Friday too.

I start building a new web site at work tomorrow, but hoping I can make big progress on that without too many outside interruptions. The hope is to have the homepage built by lunch time and get an internal page “template” setup by days end. Regardless, the real stress should be behind. *fingers crossed*

I’ve also got my third race of the week coming on Sunday. There’s always some anxious energy and a bit of health nervousness spawning from that. Wish me luck on that one.

Pulling Plenty

// April 15th, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Cycling, Personal Crap

CyclingSo after a busy and crappy day at work, I got all my aggression and frustration out through 40+ miles on the road with the Raleigh Gyros. I rode to and from the ride and did my share of pulling start to finish. My legs felt a little worn/tired, riding out there, and it took me a bit longer to get up my first couple hills. I got a little motivation though coming off the first set of hills, riding solo. A guy commuting home on his bike, complete with panniers on the back of his Specialized commuter. He was struggling a bit and requested a pull, so I got in front of him and he drafted me till he turned off into his neighborhood.

The Race By Dave Shields

// April 14th, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Books, Cycling

I first heard about Dave Shields on a little ol’ cycling podcast called The Fredcast. After an interview with the author on the podcast and a brief description of the story, I immediately put it on my Amazon wishlist. I’ve only gotten a few chapters in so far, but I’m hooked and I’m a big fan of the author and the story piece of fiction entitled, The Race.”

Maybe after I finish it, I’ll post a review of the article, but I think anyone into cycling at all will find this book a quick and entertaining read. I know I have been so far.

By the way, I setup an Amazon Affiliate account just for this post. Follow the links above if you’re looking into buying the book and you’ll throw a few bucks Keefer Madness’ way. I’ll probably go back and post links to other products on the site I’ve reviewed, etc. Appreciate any support I get out there in the ol’ World Wide Web.

Another One Joining the Married Ranks

// April 13th, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Personal Crap

No Bumping - Go KartsSo in less than a week, my friend Bret will be joining the married ranks. Last night, his brother, me and a co-worker (Jeff) all got together for his bachelor party. We did some video games, mini-golf and go-karts. Then went to a local favorite wings place, and eventually ended up back at Bret’s for some Rock Band and polishing off of a bunch of liquor. I finally made it home at like 3:30 this morning, and still got up at a fairly normal time. The lack of sleep has caught up throughout the day and here it is 8:30 and I’m ready for bed and sure as hell not ready for the week. At least it’s a four-day work week for me.

I didn’t get any mileage in the saddle this weekend, but will make up for it in the coming days, slightly scaling back as the week ends. I’m racing down in Winston Salem Sunday afternoon for my third crit of the season so far. Wish me luck!
