Beyond The Peloton
// June 11th, 2009 // Cycling
So all the pro cycling fans out there have probably seen the Cervelo commercials during the Giro d’Italia or other cycling-related television coverage on Universal Sports, Versus, etc. The ad focuses on Cervelo’s fairly new site, bartape.net, featuring a new documentary about the Cervelo Test Team, Cervelo’s origin and its first year in the pro peloton.
I had been meaning to watch it at some point, but honestly had forgotten about it until I was catching up on a recent episode of The Fredcast. It’s a nice behind-the-scenes of a professional team. I love the little clip they show of the team car stopping to switch out Thor Hushovd’s rear wheel and him spinning back up in ten seconds flat.
The well-produced documentary is broken down into five separate short videos available in various sizes from one appropriate for watching on your iPhone up to a high def video at 1280 x 720.
On another note, seeing the two videos of the Cervelo Test Team at the 2009 Tour of California really really makes me want to be out there for a stage or two in the coming years. Maybe once Tyler’s a little older, we can hook that up and enjoy some professional cycling first-hand. I’d love to be at the finish of some stages, get some nice action shots of the.. well action, and maybe a couple of autographs.
In the meantime, check out the videos at the link below for a bunch of behind-the-scenes of a young professional cycling squad featuring Hushovd, Carlos Sastre and a bunch of other talent. I loved all the videos and it left me wanting more, and also helped personalized the team a great deal. I’m really hoping they will continue to add more footage throughout 2009, though we’re going on a month and a half since the last update. Check out the ones there currently, and hopefully more will be added soon.
