Rock Band 3 Widens Its Musical Repertoire

Rock Band 3I haven’t had the time, nor energy to play my two consoles any time in recent memory, but love the organic transition the third installment is making. I’m definitely interested in trying it out upon release!

Back to the Future, Jurassic Park Games Coming from Telltale

// June 10th, 2010 // No Comments » // Film, Gaming

Back to the FutureOh man, I’m a sucker for all things Back to the Future, as I sit here typing this in my “Save the Clock Tower” T-shirt. I’ll be snagging any volumes of Back to the Future games they release. The Jurassic Park Games might be fun action. I just hope the Back to the Future. These new titles for old franchises come from Telltale Games — the same publisher that brought back new Sam & Max games in the past couple of years.

Let’s just hope it’s better than those pieces of crap that were made back in the day for the Nintendo Entertainment System! Believe it or not, I actually suffered through the entire game of the first title. The combo game for II & III just was too weird and no fun.

Hulu Expanding to Xbox 360, iPad

huluOn the heels of my post last week about trying to find alternate ways to watch our favorite shows on an alternative to cable, I’m excited to read rumors that Hulu is looking to the Xbox 360 and the iPad. I don’t really care about the iPad, but I am very excited to see the possibility of it coming to my Microsoft console. I’m guessing, that like Netflix, it will requite an Xbox Live Gold subscription. Guess I’ll be renewing that at some point if Hulu comes to fruition.

Shifting Priorities… Time to Say Goodbye to the Consoles?

// May 15th, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Gaming, Personal Crap

Mario Kart WiiSo priorities change as you get older. I keep toying back and forth with getting rid of the Xbox 360 and/or our Nintendo Wii. With a [near] eight month old in the house, and working two jobs, a bit of freelance thrown in the mix, squeezing in some saddle time on the various bikes, plus just the usual day-to-day stuff, there’s not a lot of time left over.

But I keep going back and forth. It’d be great to declutter the living room, and make a few bucks on stuff that’s been basically collecting dust for most of 2010.

But on the other hand, they’re still fully enjoyable when they do get the rare boot up — when friends and family are over, or when I get an even rarer solo game on the 360 in. I haven’t bought a game in awhile, getting the last few for both consoles as gifts, so it’s not really costing me a dime to keep them. Thoughts? Opinions?

Super Mario Crossover

Mega Man in Super Mario Bros.Here’s a cool Flash game that will make all those old enough to have grown up with the NES quite nostalgic. Take the original Super Mario Brothers, and mix in playable characters — complete with their signature moves and weapons, including Link from the Legend of Zelda, Samus from Metroid, and a couple others. Very cool!

USB Storage Day for Xbox 360

USB Storage Day for Xbox 360When I first bought my Xbox 360 several years ago, I assumed I could throw content onto a thumb drive to port it to another location — friends house. No such luck. You’ve got to use the Microsoft-branded (or some off-brands) that are available at highly overpriced dollar amounts.

Well it seems, Microsoft has finally loosened the reigns slightly and are allowing USB storage devices (from 1GB to 16GB) Now if they’d only cannibalize their HD markets and release that cap, I could have specific drives for all my Rock Band, Guitar Hero, etc. content. Plus, we could all run every game off the harddrive to speed up the game, cool down the console and quiet the damn DVD drive.

Hot Wheels Custom Motors Cup Challenge

hot-wheels-custom-motorsI’m seeing more and more of these on the web. It’s kind of a modern-day version of the old “Choose Your Own Adventure,” but with Hot Wheels and YouTube videos. A little search, and you can find a ton of these on YouTube.

This one is really well done and is a ton of fun trying different a combination of customizations for both vehicles to win the races. This looks great, and is a fun little diversion. I love the announcer as well &mdsah; “Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!” This brings back memories of an old SNES game called “Rock N Roll Racing” too where you could customize cars and it was pretty much an anything

Ghostbuster Proton Pack Wii Peripheral

Awesome Ghostbuster Wii PeripheralSo the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 got the better version of the Ghostbusters game, but if you had a controller like this, wouldn’t you want the Wii version of the game? Nice usage of the white plastics and glowing light blue lights associated with the Nintendo system.

Original Guitar Hero Publisher Shut Down by Activision

It’s moves like these that have put Activision on so many gamers’ “hate” lists. Red Octane created the current generation of rhythm video games and it’s sad that Activision has sliced their team up. Let’s hope the individual team members are able to take it as an opportunity to branch out and do even bigger and better things without the oppressive and money grubbing ways of Activision.
