Discovery, Innovation and New Destinations Highlight “This Year @NASA”

// December 29th, 2011 // No Comments » // Space Stuff & NASA, Tech, Video

This was posted two days before Christmas, but I just found it on YouTube yesterday. It highlights NASA’s accomplishments in 2011 — a year that was highlighted with the 30+ year space shuttle program decommissioned, scientific missions (including Juno, MSL Curiosity, Aquarius and the one I got to see launch, GRAIL) and partnerships with four different commercial companies taking over and modifying Kennedy Space Center facilities to continue low-Earth orbit.

NASA is now poised to focus on further targets. The video is quite long but simultaneously very in-depth and informative.

Just heard this parody of the Apple iPhone 4S/Siri commercial when I was listening to the latest episode of This Week in Tech on the drive into work. Too funny.

These are a few years old, but I just stumbled upon them and they rock. A couple of rock giant-inspired Christmas tunes. They’re all well done.

Space Shuttle: The Final Flight

// December 1st, 2011 // No Comments » // Space Stuff & NASA, Video

NASA TV’s YouTube channel added this 17 minute video yesterday, and it’s a pretty cool historical account of our now retired space shuttle program, along with a little voice over by William Shatner, insight from astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson and a soundtrack by Rush.

It’s all so amazing, and here’s to the next chapter of space exploration.

Another Post-Shuttle Era Successful Launch

// November 28th, 2011 // No Comments » // Space Stuff & NASA, Video

In case you missed it, the Kennedy Space Center had another successful launch this past weekend, sending the Mars-bound Curiosity car-sized rover into outer space.

Congrats to everyone involved in successfully launching the Atlas 5 rocket with its large precious cargo sitting atop!

Here’s the premiere of Tyler’s second spy movie trailer, chocked full of Tyler randomness and craziness. iMovie really makes these fun and easy to do.

Bicycle Wheel Animations Visible Only Through a Video Camera

// November 25th, 2011 // No Comments » // Cycling, Video

My friend Bret tweeted this over to me earlier today. While I’d never subject my road bikes to such aero-killing designs, love the video and ingenuity these people came up with utilizing a bike and a video camera.

Grand Theft Auto V Premier Trailer

// November 2nd, 2011 // No Comments » // Gaming, Video

My little rockerI’m getting fewer and fewer hours with the old XBox 360, though my son is starting to be intrigued by the Guitar Hero and Rock Band series of games. See the thumbnail to the right.

Love that picture!

Anyway, this first trailer of the new GTA game looks great, and it seems that Rockstar Games has continued to make good and deep games in the series.

This trailer also reminded me that I never finished GTA IV.

I got stuck on the last mission. Maybe I need to revisit.

‘Unkown’ Lance Armstrong at Tour de France 1994

// October 31st, 2011 // No Comments » // Cycling, Video

This is interesting piece that aired during the 1994 Tour de France, when American Lance Armstrong really wasn’t known in America.

It took a lot of interviewing of Texas’ locals before someone correctly identified the young cyclist as a young cyclist.

Look at how young Lance was BTW.

Ladies, Do Have Your Halloween Costume Yet?

// October 27th, 2011 // No Comments » // Funny Stuff, Holidays, Video

So Halloween is right around the corner. Our office has its costume contest tomorrow. I’ll post pictures from that, including the costume that I’ve stressed over, and hopefully will have time to finish up this evening. *fingers crossed*

This is an oldie, but a goodie. I’ve posted it before, but it’s worth posting again, especially since we established at lunch that not everyone’s seen this classic Halloween clip from CollegeHumor.com:
