50+ Ways A Manager Can Get Employees To Quit

Home Sweet Home

Well, I’ve been about for two days in Kansas City for a two-day National Sales/Marketing Meeting in our Corporate office. The meeting was great and I met the entire sales and marketing staff for my company, which is a huge opportunity because these types of meetings only take place every 4-5 years. Let me tell you, these people know how to throw down. They can party with the best of ‘em. :)

My connecting flight home in Atlanta was a nightmare. It was delayed because of other flights being re-directed and delayed. This was causing me to miss my flight to RDU. So I was able to rebook on a flight into Greensboro (which is an hour away from Durham). Anyhow, I get on the flight from KC to ATL and arrive in Atlanta, just to find our the RDU flight is still sitting there 1.5 hours after the scheduled departure. I get on the flight to RDU around 12:30AM and then we proceed to sit in the plane until 1:30AM. I land in RDU at 3AM Friday morning. UGH.

I had a deadline at 2PM Friday afternoon, which means I am going to work bright and early.

Needless to say, I left early yesterday after delivering the submittal to the NCDOT Materials Unit.

Hooray! The weekend is here!

Glad to be back with my fiance and my favorite little beagle. I missed the boys and I am most definitely glad this week has come to an end.

Busy Busy Busy

Gah, work has been busy busy busy!

I’ve been swamped at work with submittals and other work. I am going to be traveling a fair amount in the next 2 weeks. Next week I am driving down to Columbia, SC to bisit with our South Carolina office. Then, the following week I will be flying over to our Corporate Headquarters in Lenexa for a National Marketing Meeting, which will take place for 2 days.

I am hoping work slows in the next month. Especially since I’ll be travelling and out of the office more.

Job Update

// January 14th, 2005 // Comments Off // Work

Well, just wanted to give an update on my job situation. I have been so busy with putting submittals out and keeping up with all the marketing duties like updating resumes, putting out/updating SOQs (Statement of Qualifications) and helping the other 3 offices with letters of interest.

The past 3 weeks I have been diligently working on a SOQ package for the New Raleigh Convention Center. If this bid is won, it would mean 1.2 million dollars for our Raleigh construction department. In other words, as cost basis goes it’s huge. Yesterday I worked 13 hours and didn’t get home until
9:30PM. The package was submitted this morning and our group believes we have a strong chance of winning the contract.

I have to say I am super relieved this is done and out the door. Now on to another huge submittal for the RDU Airport. Hehe, it never ends…

Monday I am heading over to Charlotte for a weekly meeting. Hoping to get that offices input into marketing that office and submitting bids for projects. It should be a enlightening meeting.

Oh yeah.. and in our Thrusday office meeting I was awarded the “employee of the month” for excellence and professionalism in helping the Raleigh operations. I was completely surprised by this and impressed with myself. It was really awesome too, I got $100 American Express gift cheques too. WOOHOO! I’m going shopping tomorrow for a new outfit for my Monday meeting.

Anyhow, as you can see… work has been going really well and I am really gaining a lot of confidence and recognition and respect from my fellow co-workers.
