Eddie Van Halen Promises New Album and Tour for 2010!

Sweet! It looks like next year we’ll finally get some new Van Halen music, with a tour to follow, supporting it. If the tracks are along the lines of the last new tracks with Roth (“Me Wise Magic” and “Can’t Get This Stuff No More”), it should rock. I’m looking forward to finally adding some more Van Halen tracks to my collection — finally!
As for Ed’s comment about Michael Anthony quitting the band — I gotta call BS! The Van Halens weren’t doing anything in the music biz and former Van Halen alum Sammy Hagar was. Anthony had every right and was justified going out on the road with Hagar. Once the Van Halens got Roth back in the mix, I can understand him wanting to be participating. But that being said, the Van Halens wrote Anthony off long before bringing DLR back. On the Van Halen 3 album (with Gary Cherone fronting), Anthony wasn’t involved in the studio recordings, and only was involved in the last Hagar-fronted tour at Hagar’s insistence. So I’m definitely calling BS.
That being said, I’ll be first in line to buy the album later next year, along with the Guitar Hero: Van Halen game [hopefully] this year.

Who are you people to call BS on Anything? You are not qualified to judge anyone. I am sick to death of people on the internet with big mouths who think what they say matters when Eddie was busting his ass night and say to hone his craft. Micheal went on tour with Hagar, and wanted back in the band again after that, but Eddie got his son to play bass instead. Oh well, too bad. Deal with it.
I agree. It’s obvious where Michael Anthony’s loyalties lie. I think Eddie felt kind of betrayed when Michael left with Sammy, then made those public statements about his(Eddie’s) alcoholism. Although I like some of the “Van Hagar” music, I never considered Sammy Hagar to be Van Halen’s true lead singer. In my opinion, he was always just a stand-in for David Lee Roth. Don’t even get me started on Gary Cherone. That’s when Eddie should have swallowed his pride and allowed Dave back into the band permanently. I’m sure Eddie learned from his mistakes, though. I can’t wait for the new album. I doubt they will hit the top 40 with the sorry state of radio and the charts today, but the album will be a huge success and sell millions.
I,m excited about a new VH album. Im glad that Roths back..and yes its said to hear Micheal anthony out of the group. But hes been busier than VH with The Sammys band Chicken Foot. The VH brothers are pissed that Chicken foot has been so succesfull. TO bad. I love the VH brothers. Alex is way cool as Eddie but sometimes these guys just play low down dirty..and don’t forget the past to easily..like when Roth did his solo..I know they were wathcing his career. And finnally hes back after Sammys long run.

I have been an fan of Van Halen since there first album came out. I’ve seen them many times in concert. I have been waiting to hear new music from them since there last album with cherone ( not there best, but it being Van Halen I did’nt care). I hear they want to name the new album “Encore” which is fitting since there 2007-08 tour has left us wanting more. I do wish that there was more news out there about there new album and when it was coming out and if it is still coming out this year?

For one, i picked up the guitar at the age of 18 because of eddie. Im 20 now, and rocking all of his tracks! Ive been waiting for this new album to come out, so stoked. I would love to see micheal back in the group, but you know, id pay to see eddie alex and david (not really micheal). That being said, i got my piggie bank waiting to be cracked open!

eddie is a great guitar player but i wouldnt say he has written a great song in a long long time!!!!!!!!!!! the very dated and lame sounding keyboard era of van halen started when roth was in the band so ya cant blame hagar for that eddie just was wanting to go with the 80′s sound no matter wgho he had singing and consequently thats why van halen sounds dated and are very much a relic. as far as anthony not being in the band eddie is a control freak and its his band if he doesnt want him in then he not in simple as that i dont feel betrayed or feel sorry for anyone involved they all just go back to their mansions at the end of the day anyways

It would be interesting to see Eddie playing in the same realm as Joe. Joe idolized Eddie but actually is probably better than Ed….Eddie is an icon…Joe isn’t quite there yet…neither can touch Uli Jon Roth.
