Great Party Yesterday

Amanda’s in Florida and flying back up here in just a few hours. Well yesterday in her absence, I had a few people over to the house. Originally it was supposed to be just a couple of buds playing Rock Band for awhile, but ended up having 14 friends out to the house at the peak. A couple people who said they were coming didn’t end up showing up, but I think the ones that did enjoyed themselves.

The afternoon started out with some Rock Band veterans playing through a trio of songs as people were arriving. Luckily people left themselves in as we didn’t hear the doorbell at all.

The backyard was all prepped with extra chairs setup on the patio, the iPod in the Bose SoundDock and the Ladder Golf set all ready to go. Bret and I ended up dominating the Ladder Golf, going undefeated against all who challenged throughout the little shindig.

I eventually fired up the gas grill and we all dug into burgers and hot dogs – both were great IMHO. The hot dogs especially were flavorful – Nathan’s beef franks. We had assorted sides including chips and Bret’s good ol’ Ranch Style Beans.

Some of the couple trickled out after a couple hours and our numbers dwindled down to six plus the Beagle still waiting for a handout. With the six of us left, we plowed through the majority of the Rock Band setlist and finally called it a night just prior to 3am, with a ton of beer and food devoured by all.

I was beat from the day of cycling, prepping the house and yard and then staying up way past my bedtime. It was a blast and it was cool to have a lot of friends out to our home. My only regret is that Amanda wasn’t there to enjoy it.

We’ll just have to do it again.
