Kinetic Typography
// April 2nd, 2009 // Design, Film, Funny Stuff, Internet / Web, Video
Excuse the talk about typography here at Keefer Madness – a topic I rarely get into outside of the web safe fonts, but the designers here at work have been working on a project using the concept of kinetic typography, using the visuals of the actual dialog as a major (or the only) component of the display. It’s become pretty mainstream, showing up in a Ford F-150 Commercial (narrated by fast-talking Denis Leary).
But it’s also got a whole subset of videos showing up on YouTube, utilizing movie dialogue. Some are done a lot better than others. Here are a couple of my favorite ones I found, just browsing for a couple minutes:
Pulp Fiction
Fight Club
Monty Python & the Quest for the Holy Grail
The Office
As a journalism major, I’m appalled at the number of typos in a lot of these kinetic typography examples, but love the concept. The Pulp Fiction one above is my favorite.
