My TiVo Wishlist
// May 5th, 2009 // TiVo Bytes
TiVo has been a mainstay in my technologically-rich life for going on eight years. I’ve seen both the hardware and software progress and evolve over those seven plus years – multi-room viewing, moving from phone to Internet-based guide data, remote scheduling, HDTV, and a bunch more. You won’t find many bigger fans of TiVo than me. I left DirecTV for Time Warner Cable when DirecTV dropped TiVo for their own subpar DVR (they’re now developing a new HDTiVo for introduction next year. They’ve seen the error of their ways!)
But in this day and age of people being so mobile, with their laptops and Internet-enabled cell phones, TiVo’s playing catch-up in one area – remote access. Earlier this year, they released a mobile-phone centered site at http://m.tivo.com/. I want more though. I want to be able to access my TiVos fully from both my iPhone and from the Web. I want to be able to browse and adjust my To Do list, my Season Pass Manager and Now Playing lists. I’m hoping one day this will all be possible – and maybe even stream items from your Now Playing list to a web browser on your desktop or mobile phone. But for the immediate future, I’m just hopeful that we’ll get access to browse and modify the To Do and Season Pass Manager.

I also recently wrote up a list of my TiVo wishes. Online management of season passes, channel lists, etc is something I’ve longed for ever since I started scheduling online. Anyways, my list is at http://observationpoint.org/articles/2009/05/01/my-tivo-series-4-wishlist/
Great list! We’re definitely thinking along the same levels. I can say most of your list had crossed my mind at time to time as well (including Hulu integration) Thanks for the link!
Multi-Room Scheduling is something I’ve wanted for a long time!
