One of These Days, I'm Going to Take a Vacation Day as A Vacation Day

So I took the day off to spend with the wife and my mother-in-law. I swear, all the days I take off from work, I end up squeezing a bunch in and having very little down time.

Today was no exception. After getting up bright and early, we headed out to Cary to go to the John Deere Nursery to finish out our back yard’s plant beds. After quite awhile out there, we headed back home, had some lunch and then spent time planting all our plants. My favorite is the Japanese Maple we planted in the side bed.

After dinner, it was back to Tyler’s room to put up some finishing touches — a shelf, a valence and a set of hooks. OK, so it wasn’t an overwhelming day, but the couple activities were time-consuming, yet satisfying. Tomorrow though, I’m starting the day with a bike ride, and ending it with some Xbox 360. Plus seriously, one of these weekends that I transform into a three-day weekend are going to be filled with nothing but cycling, rest and relaxation.
