Van Halen Video Game Set List Wish List

// March 20th, 2009 // 3 Comments » // Gaming, Metallica, Music, Van Halen

van-halen-logo As much as I love all the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games out there, I’m so looking forward to the Van Halen Guitar Hero game coming out later this year.

It’s not actually going to be called Guitar Hero: Van Halen, but rather, Hard Rock Van Halen, possibly an offshoot of the Guitar Hero series. The Van Halen game will be the third game centered around a band – the first being Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. The second, being released in a few weeks is Guitar Hero: Metallica.

I’m really chomping at the bit to see the full setlist for the Van Halen themed game, but until then, I wanted to give my wish list of Van Halen tracks to be included in the game.

Van Halen Guitar Hero Game Coming

// March 9th, 2009 // No Comments » // Gaming, Music, Van Halen

van-halen-logoAww yeah! The rumors were true, much to my chagrin. There is a Van Halen game on the 2009 Horizon – August to be specific, and it is to be titled, Hard Rock Van Halen. I can’t wait for this one and can’t wait to see the setlist. I’m willing to bet it’s Roth-era heavy, if not Roth-era totally, though there are a ton of Hagar era songs I want to rock out to. I’ll also bet it doesn’t acknowledge the single album with Gary Cherone at the helm either.

Next Guitar Hero Releases Will Be in My Library – Metallica and Van Halen!

// July 2nd, 2008 // No Comments » // Gaming, Metallica, Music

So things are looking up in the Guitar Hero universe for me. For Independence Day, they’re releasing the “Top Gun Anthem” for free on Xbox Live and the Playstation Network. I’ll be downloading that for sure. But the better news are the rumors of future Guitar Hero releases. Rumor has it that on the heels of the recently released Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, two more bands are in the works – both of which are tops in my most often played: Metallica and Van Halen. Sign me up for both please!

I’d rather have both of those as Rock Band, getting the drums in the mix as well, but I’ll settle for whatever I can get in playable content from those two.

Guitar Hero 4 Includes Song Creation and Sharing, Multiple Instruments, Van Halen, Linkin Park

// May 13th, 2008 // No Comments » // Gaming, Music

Sweet, not a lot of detail, but I’m already a Guitar Hero IV customer with the simple fact that they’re going to include Van Halen tracks… hopefully multiple that represent both the Roth and Hagar era. We shall see.

I’m not entirely sold/on board with the song creation thing. If it’s along the lines of importing your own MP3s, that would be great, but my gut is it’s not going to be that simple.

Also, like one of the article’s commenters said, if they’re doing the multiple instruments thing, they had better make it cross-compatible with the Rock Band hardware.

Van HalenOh man, despite being over their current tour, I would be all over this. Sign me up now. I’ll pre-order, pay full retail, but a Frankenstrat guitar controller and whatever else. I’d love Guitar Hero: Van Halen. Please please please! Just make sure it has classic Van Halen and Van Hagar. I want my “Running With the Devil” *and* “Poundcake.”

Guitar Rising For Real Guitar Heroes

Guitar RisingThis concept has really piqued my interest. I think Amanda would even be a bit more supportive of this app/game than the Guitar Hero and Rock Band series.

I can’t wait to try this out and it’d be great to have the hours of rocking out actually help rocking out for real.
