Details Emerge on Chickenfoot's Sophomore Album

// July 1st, 2011 // No Comments » // Music

Chickenfoot2011 is going to end up being a nice year for my music collection, with my very eclectic and varied tastes, 2011 has already given me a new Foo Fighters album, and Kelly Clarkson (don’t laugh, jerk!) has already confirmed an album for the last quarter of 2011.

It also sounds like we may see a Van Halen album released as well, though I’m not holding my breath. That one is the proverbial vaporware until it’s actually out in stores and available from Amazon, iTunes, etc.

Former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony though has confirmed a few details though on his new album with his current band with former Van Halen singer, Sammy Hagar. The first single for the sophomore Chickenfoot album is going to be released this month, with the entire album being released Sept 27th, 2011.

Sammy HagarWow, pretty amazing stuff — never would have known Sammy Hagar had the opportunity to front so many bands. Glad he chose Van Halen over any of those others.

Sammy Hagar Admits Alien Abduction

Sammy HagarI love that with Sammy Hagar’s new autobiography coming out just over a week ago that we’re getting a lot of new interviews with him. I’m obviously most interested in any and all Van Halen tidbits. Though, the headline on this one is focused on his obsession with aliens and close encounters. I’ve read/heard these rumblings before. Regardless of how much of this is too much Cabo Wabo induced, I’m really digging all these new Sammy interviews.

Sammy Hagar: 'I Would Love To Make Another Record With Van Halen'

// March 3rd, 2011 // No Comments » // Music, Van Halen

Sammy HagarSammy Hagar in his new autobiography has sad he thinks it’s a 90% liklihood that he’ll play with Van Halen again. He says he’d love to make another album, and I’d love to buy another album. Hagar’s got an autobiography coming out, and I just can’t wait to read it. I may have to bite the bullet and pre-order it at Amazon, where it can be picked up for a mere $16.75, and will be released on March 15th.

Sammy Hagar Tears a Strip Off of Eddie Van Halen in Upcoming Autobiography

Can’t wait to read this new book Sammy Hagar’s putting out, and get more inside information on the failed Hagar reunion with Van Halen a few years back (to which I went to the first show of the tour and thoroughly enjoyed), among other topics.

In Defense of Van Hagar

// February 23rd, 2011 // No Comments » // Music, Van Halen

Anyone that knows me, knows how much I love Van Halen. In my book, they never made a bad album — with Roth, Hagar or even Cherone at the helm. I appreciate this guy defending the Hagar-era stuff. It’s always been cool to bash Sammy Hagar, and love Dave, but this guy makes a lot of good points about the Hagar era stuff, though I’d say he’s even overly harsh on Hagar. While I can’t wait for the day there’s a new Van Halen album, I’d be equally happy with David Lee Roth or Hagar helming the band on vocals.

Chickenfoot Begins Recording New Album

ChickenfootSweet, we’ll soon be listening to a sophomore album from the band consisting of Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith. I’m glad they were all able to get their schedules in-line to allow for the recording of the second album. If it’s half as good as the original, it’ll be well worth a purchase!

Chickenfoot Update: 2nd Album News, Live DVD News and More

ChickenfootDuring the Super Bowl tonight, I’m positive one of the CBS lineup commercials had Hagar or Chickenfoot playing, and was hoping this update would shed some light. It doesn’t though. I’m also glad to hear that Hagar isn’t going to be a temporary replacement for Steven Tyler in Aerosmith. I’m definitely looking forward to the sophomore Chickenfoot album.

The Recording Of OU812, In Sammy Hagar’s Words

Van Halen LogoMan, I love these in-depth accounts of the making of a given record. Awhile back, I posted the “5150″ producer interview from the Howard Stern show that went into detail on the making of the first Sammy Hagar-fronted Van Halen album.

I’ll be interested to see if pieces like this ever surface for For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge or Balance. I eat this Van Halen info up!
