The Ultimate Garage

Specialized Tarmac SLMan, if money were no issue, my ultimate garage would be filled. Sure, I’d have a nice car or two (S2000 in there for sure), but there would also be a ton of bikes hanging from the ceiling too. As I’ve gotten more and more into cycling, I’ve realized how many different types of bikes. From the outside, a lot would think that bikes just fall into two categories – mountain and road bikes. But there are so many other types, all with their distinct utility. Allow me to dream for a minute about this one (and assume money is no issue) and excuse my fan-boy like obsession with Specialized bikes.

I started out riding a mountain bike and have a low to mid level full suspension Mongoose mountain bike, so I’d want to get a nice full-suspension mountain bike. But a full suspension isn’t always necessary and a lighter off-road bike is needed. So I’d need to have a hard tail mountain bike as well.

The most utilized bike though in my arsenal would be a nice new race road bike. I’d go all out this, with the top-of-the line Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL2 Dura-Ace. By far, this would be the one with the most miles on it.

My current road bike would stay in the arsenal, but would solely be for bike commuting and training.

Then, a few other less utilized but still useful bikes would also hang from my rafters. For time trials, I’d love to have a time trial bike – probably the only one that wouldn’t be a Specialized branded bike. I just love the look of the Cervelo TT bikes.

The only other ones hanging from the ceiling would be a nice Single speed bike for off-season training and to work on cadence. Maybe it’d be used for an occasional bike commute as well. The other off-season training would come from the cyclocross bike.

Ah.. one can dream.
